This week we get a preview of one of the most exciting new events on the Ironman circuit, Ironman 70.3 Santa Rosa, replacement for the legendary Vineman events. Coach Duane Franks will talk us through the half ironman course, and also take us through the full iron distance course, scheduled for July. Not only are these beautiful courses, there are few better holiday destinations than wine country!

Coach Duane Franks has been racing and coaching triathlon for nearly 40 years. He has completed over 300 events including more than one hundred 70.3 races, and 22 full Iron distance events. He’s a five-time competitor at the Hawaii Ironman World Championship, the Ironman 70.3 World championship, and the 3-day Ultraman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. He coaches with his wife, Dorette Franks, RDN, a registered dietitian nutritionist. Together they work with athletes from novice to elite age groupers who have won multiple world championships including the Ironman in Hawaii. They are based in the San Francisco Bay Area where they work with local athletes as well as with on-line clients internationally.
